Took a trip to The City (San Francisco) to see our daughter and she took us to Cliff House, where she sells jewelry. Check out this amazing piece of tile. Blew me away that it is in one piece and as old as it is. Just beautiful to behold. Enjoy!

Carnuba wax on a faucet?!

Yes, you can wax your faucets (preferably when they are brand new). I hear from one of my plumbing suppliers, Vic's Plumbing in Ventura, that you can use Carnuba wax or one like it to get a base coat down on the faucets and shower fixtures and it should prevent hard water build-up! Off to scrub off the build-up to try it myself.

Pink interiors-in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

PINK-in an interior. Yikes, Heaven Forbid, No Way. Gross. If these phrases echo with your thoughts, take a gander at the photos in the link provided. Colors are not static and play differently in different lights. So while you may be thinking of cotton candy or a typical little girl's wall color, see what can be done with sophisticated versions of the color and even some shocking pinks mixed with its proper opposite, green. My other cool door stop-it's magnetic

Okay, in honor of my promise to Leslie, here is another awesome door stop. My clients, Carl and Tammy, have one and I loved it the first moment I opened the door into it and the door stayed there. We have it on our kitchen to garage door, which now stays open easily for moving things in and out and you don't get whacked by a door closing on you. Upward and onward to posts other than ones about doorstops... (almost-first, I found mine on Amazon for $7 by typing in Magnetic Door Stop)

Well, as the house has settled recently, the bathroom door began swinging open and my son's door (on the same axis) began swinging closed. It was driving me crazy and the bids to reset the doors weren't what I wanted to pay. Checking out at Bed, Bath & Beyond last week, I noticed this cool door stop called Stoppy. You can even buy it online and is around $8. It works incredibly well, even if you just toss it on the ground near the door. Stoppy is my new best friend. Enjoy!

Today, I could draw the floor plans of many childhood family friends' homes. This is to what extent my mind embraces and memorizes spaces! I began design schooling when my first two children were young, but realized that I wanted my first focus to be on raising them. As they got older, I finished my schooling, joined design communities and tested for certification for the State of California. My business is in its ninth year.

I had to pass two tests, one was the California Codes and Regulation Exam, familiarizing me with all the codes, systems and functions of buildings. The second was a two day, 14 hours national exam, which included multiple drawings I had to design that converted an empty space into a library with an apartment and they had to meet many, many specifications. So, I can work on both dining rooms or hotels!! I especially love designing kitchens, baths and cabinetry though.

I jokingly call myself a colors savant-I have an innate ability to break down colors and combine them and turn them into highly pleasing environments. My mind also quickly rearranges spaces into the best configuration with ease. When I meet clients I am able to translate who they are into articles, colors and fabrics-it's weird, but true! I LOVE designing and feel incomplete when I am not engaged in it. Enjoy the tips and tricks I leave for you and let me know what your thoughts are.
